Patmos Island is located in the Dodecannese isle chain, 163 nautical miles from Piraeus and is widely known as the "Holy Island". The Island of Patmos attracts visitors from all over the world which flock see the sacred place where the exiled Saint John the Devine wrote the Apocalypse book of revelations.
The island's capital is Chora a graphic mixture of whitewashed houses, traditional mansions, hotels, restaurants, tavernas, cafes, bars and shops surrounding the hill where the moastary and cave where Saint John wrote the Apocalypse is located.
In town you can find numerous hotels in Patmos Greece, car & scooter rental, travel agents, supermarkets, banks and ATM machines and near the port you will find taxis as well as local buses which have daily routes around Patmos island.
Nightlife in Patmos is minimal but certainly not disappointing, there are quite a few nightclubs, bars and music clubs located in and around town.
Patmos Island has many beautiful and organized beaches such as Kambos, Grikos and Meloi and scenic bays all around the island of Patmos which are ideal for swimming.
Patmos island can be reached by ferry from Piraeus port or by plane to Leros, Kos, Samos and Kalymnos and from there by ferry or hydrofoil.
